Baden-Württemberg: Cultural institutions should develop a plan for climate protection

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - The Ministry of Science is putting pressure on the state's cultural institutions to become climate-neutral by 2030, like the entire administration. As a first step, by the summer of next year, they should develop proposals on how to record and gradually reduce their energy and water consumption as well as greenhouse gases, as State Secretary Petra Olschowski (Greens) announced on Friday in Stuttgart. To this end, those responsible for climate protection should be named in every facility.

Olschowski said: "We expect the country's cultural institutions to become active for climate protection now at the latest and to contribute to the success of the climate change." The Greens politician presented the corresponding "Green Culture" guide. It deals with the areas of energy, water, waste, mobility and operational work and summarizes the corresponding instruments and measures. There are over 20 state or state-sponsored cultural institutions in the southwest.
