Baden-Württemberg: Customs advises against animal souvenirs from vacation

Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - Travelers should not bring frozen goat skulls as a souvenir from their vacation, according to customs they cannot get through the control at the airports. This was announced by the customs office in Karlsruhe on Friday. At the beginning of the holiday season, customs advise holidaymakers to find out about import regulations beforehand.

"Last year, the main customs office in Karlsruhe, together with the veterinary office in Rastatt, seized almost a ton of animal products at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airport, the import of which was prohibited under animal health law," said a spokeswoman for the customs office. The products, such as two frozen goat skulls from Morocco, were confiscated and destroyed. In such a case, vacationers would have to expect a fine.

Holidaymakers can find out more about the regulations via the customs website, an online brochure and the "Customs and Travel" app.
