Baden-Württemberg: Customs uncovers abuses in the taxi and rental car industry

Lörrach (dpa / lsw) - In the course of nationwide controls of possible undeclared work and illegal employment in the taxi and rental car industry, customs have also discovered misconduct in the southwest. The main customs office in Lörrach reported on Wednesday, among other things, that the statutory minimum wage had not been paid out in the correct amount in eight cases. Eleven references to withheld social security contributions are now being investigated. A foreign employee was unable to produce a work permit. Three drivers are suspected of wrongly receiving social benefits.

According to the information, 62 employees of the main customs office were on duty in Lörrach, Freiburg and Offenburg on September 24th. They questioned 81 employees about their working conditions and viewed documents from 21 companies.
