Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - After a massive explosion in a residential building in Stuttgart, a body was recovered from the rubble on Monday evening. Police say the suspect is a missing 85-year-old woman. The elderly had previously been suspected in the rubble of the badly damaged building. Among other things, corpse detection dogs were used to search for her. Emergency services had worked their way through the rubble piece by piece with heavy equipment to find the missing person.
The detonation occurred at around 3:00 a.m. in the house in a residential area in the west of the city; Parts of the building had collapsed. Four people, including two children, were able to save themselves and were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The exact cause of the accident is still unclear.
