Baden-Württemberg: Diakonie fears the collapse of social care

Karlsruhe (dpa/lsw) - The Diakonie Baden warns of the collapse of social security systems. Hospitals, daycare centers, care facilities, advice centers and support services for people with disabilities are not only at risk because of the shortage of skilled workers, but also because of the rising costs, said CEO Urs Keller in a video blog now published in Karlsruhe. "Some are about existence."

The exploding costs hit the facilities hard, such cost increases are not reflected in the price agreements. "Everything that makes our existence safe, our social security systems are extremely burdened," said Keller. "In extreme cases, there is a risk of closure, which means in concrete terms that the people there can no longer be cared for. And then what?"

Instead, the extent of the Christmas lights is being discussed, criticized the Diakonie boss in Baden. "We really need a lot: a social summit, financial aid packages, above all more joint responsibility for our social existence - and not the attitude of 'someone will fix it'."
