Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - The Karlsruhe police have caught a large drug gang. Nine suspects were taken into custody and others are still on the run. As the public prosecutor announced on Friday, more than 30 residential, business and storage rooms in the northern district of Karlsruhe and in the Heidelberg and Speyer regions were searched at the beginning of August. Investigators seized more than 150 kilograms of marijuana, two and a half kilograms of cocaine and more than a kilogram each of hashish and amphetamine as well as firearms. They also secured assets worth several hundred thousand euros, including a sports boat, jewellery, watches and cash.
A 35-year-old is considered the main perpetrator. He is said to have traded over 638 kilograms of drugs between April 2020 and early June 2021 alone. The investigators had already become aware of him at the end of 2020. In the course of the police work, they tracked down more and more suspected accomplices.
