Neuried (dpa / lsw) - A 35-year-old driver crashed her car into a tree under the influence of alcohol on Tuesday evening in Neuried (Ortenaukreis) in Baden. Her 9-year-old son was killed, the police said on Wednesday. The mother was traveling at high speed when she left the road and crashed into a tree.
According to the information, the car was torn in two by the impact. The boy was thrown out of the vehicle and trapped under the wrecked car - he died at the scene of the accident. The mother survived with minor injuries. An alcohol test revealed a value of almost two per mille. A blood test was also ordered. The car had to be towed away and was a total loss. In the meantime, the Rheinstraße in Neuried was closed in both directions.
