Herrenberg (dpa / lsw) - A fire in a vacant attic apartment in the Böblingen district caused major damage on Tuesday. According to a police spokesman, the fire in the house in Herrenberg was due to a technical defect, according to the investigators' initial findings. A former resident who was vacuuming the apartment noticed the fire in time and was able to leave the apartment unharmed. A first responder contracted smoke inhalation trying to put out the fire. He was taken to a hospital. The fire also spread to the attic. The police estimate the damage at up to 300,000 euros. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
