Baden-Württemberg: excavator severed cable: power failure in Mannheim

Mannheim (dpa/lsw) - After a power outage of around 20 hours, the Mannheim district of Friedrichsfeld went fully online again early Tuesday morning. According to the company, one in four of the 5,000 residents of the district was affected by the disruption, which was also longer than average from the point of view of the energy supplier MVV. The reason was excavation work, during which a cable had been severed. A dozen distribution stations were affected by this and the complex repair. At times, a supermarket and a homestead were powered by generators.
