Baden-Württemberg: Experts expect a further decline in unemployment

So far, the war in Ukraine has not had a direct impact on the labor market in the south-west. Experts, on the other hand, are expecting a further recovery. Specialists are still wanted.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency published the number of unemployed in May on Tuesday (10 a.m.) in Stuttgart. According to experts, unemployment is likely to have fallen compared to the previous month.

The reference date for the survey is May 12th. In April, nearly 209,100 people were unemployed in the southwest. The unemployment rate was 3.3 percent, slightly lower than in the previous month.

The labor market has so far been stable despite crises and widespread material shortages in industry. In the longer term, however, it is expected that the Ukraine war could also trigger uncertainty in the south-west. According to the Baden-Württemberg Entrepreneurs' Association, stopping Russian gas supplies would even lead to a massive economic slump.
