Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - According to the city, the falling fan parts in the new Karlsruhe car tunnel should have been a one-time fiasco. A danger for other tunnels in the city is not seen because other fans are installed there, said a spokesman for the Karlsruhe Rail Infrastructure Society (KASIG) on Wednesday.
Due to the serious damage to one of the 36 fans and the associated danger to traffic, the opening of the car tunnel has been delayed indefinitely. The tunnel, which is part of the Karlsruhe local transport project combined solution, should have been opened on Monday after repeated postponements.
