Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - The opening of the Karlsruhe car tunnel of the combination solution has been delayed by months. The reason is a serious technical defect in a fan during a test run. This was confirmed by Karlsruhe Mayor Frank Mentrup (SPD) on Tuesday. The SWR and the "Badische Latest News" had previously reported on it.
The car tunnel through the Karlsruher Kriegsstraße is part of the local transport project combined solution. Since December, part of the tram traffic has been routed through a tunnel under the pedestrian zone. Another part runs on the new route Kriegsstraße to the south. This former ten-lane car lane has been converted into a boulevard. Car traffic should already be rolling in the tunnel in the spring.
