Baden-Württemberg: FDP calls for reports: Strobl must be released

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - FDP parliamentary group leader Hans-Ulrich Rülke sees another reason for Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) to withdraw from the report by the top data protection officer on the publication of a lawyer's letter to the press. "Now it has been proven that Strobl has other illegal offenses in addition to those against which the public prosecutor's office is already taking action," said Rülke on Tuesday in Stuttgart. He therefore called on Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) again to dismiss Strobl as Interior Minister. "Strobl himself has obviously lost any feeling for when a minister has to resign."

According to an expert opinion by data protection officer Stefan Brink, the Minister of the Interior clearly violated the law by forwarding a letter from the lawyer of a high-ranking police officer to a journalist. The result is a "data protection regulatory test procedure" that SPD Brink has requested. Brink has now also opened a regulatory procedure in the matter.

Strobl is under pressure because of the affair. The public prosecutor's office is investigating against the deputy head of government, among other things, on suspicion of prohibited communication about court hearings.
