Baden-Württemberg: FDP: States can end isolation requirements themselves

Stuttgart/Berlin (dpa/lsw) - The FDP in the Bundestag has called on the four states that are pushing for an end to the obligation to isolate the federal government to act. The liberal health expert Christine Aschenberg-Dugnus said in Berlin on Wednesday that the federal states could decide for themselves how long they should be isolated in the event of a corona infection. "If the ministers call for the end of the isolation requirement, they can implement it now," said the parliamentary director of the FDP parliamentary group.

The health ministers of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse and Schleswig-Holstein had asked their federal colleague Karl Lauterbach (SPD) in a letter on Tuesday to ensure that the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) quickly changed the quarantine rules. They argue that more personal responsibility should be used and that people should no longer be required to be separated for five days. Lauterbach immediately rejected the advance.

The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Health said on Wednesday about the statement from the Bundestag FDP: "In our view, there should be national regulations in this important field." A patchwork quilt does not make sense. In the past, the countries had always agreed on basic rules together and built on the recommendations of the RKI.
