The software company SAP is celebrating its 50th anniversary with an evening event and plenty of prominent politicians. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann are expected.

Mannheim (dpa/lsw) - Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) will be a guest at an event of the software group SAP in Mannheim (6 p.m.) this evening and will give a speech. In addition to the Federal Chancellor, the Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann (Greens), is also expected. According to SAP, he will say a word of welcome.

The reason for the visit are celebrations around the 50th anniversary of the Dax group. In 1972, five former IBM employees laid the foundation for today's global corporation, including the former CEO of SAP, Dietmar Hopp and Hasso Plattner. In 2021, SAP generated sales of around 28 billion euros and after-tax profits of around 5.4 billion euros. At the end of last year, SAP employed more than 107,000 people worldwide.
