Baden-Württemberg: Feldberg prepares the ski season: save on lifts

There was already a mini onset of winter on the Feldberg. Now the local lift association wants to herald the new ski season. The tourism industry cannot avoid the energy crisis either.

Todtnau (dpa / lsw) - Around three and a half weeks before the planned start of the new ski season, the Feldberg lift association wants to provide information on Tuesday (9.30 a.m.) in Todtnau (Lörrach district). The association announced that the first lifts on the 1,493 meter high Feldberg will open as soon as there is enough snow.

The winter season is then expected to start on December 3rd and run until April 11th next year. The Feldberg is the highest mountain in Germany outside the Alps. A short onset of winter had already caused a thin layer of snow on Saturday.

In view of the energy crisis, ski resorts are also forced to save. The 14 lifts of the association in the Black Forest should no longer run at the same time, but rather be used depending on demand, said association chairman Johannes Albrecht. With almost half of the facilities, the entire slope area can be covered without any loss of quality. The aim is to work as demand-oriented and as flexibly as possible and to use the systems depending on the number of visitors.

Despite a rainy Christmas season, the association closed the 2021/22 ski season with record numbers. The previous season was completely canceled due to Corona.
