Baden-Württemberg: Fewer and fewer Covid patients in the southwest in the hospital

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Fewer and fewer corona sufferers in Baden-Württemberg are being treated in the hospital. On Friday (as of 4:00 p.m.) there were 80 patients in intensive care units, as announced by the State Health Office in Stuttgart. A week earlier it had been 111. The number of infected people in so-called normal wards fell from 790 to 640 in the same period. The seven-day hospitalization incidence - i.e. the number of corona infected people who came to a clinic within one week per 100,000 inhabitants - rose from 2.4 1.4 back.

The seven-day incidence of new corona infections in the southwest was 180.9 on Friday. That's a significant decrease compared to the previous week (315.7). According to experts, however, there is a large number of unreported cases - partly because not all infected people have a PCR test done.

The authorities in Baden-Württemberg have registered 3,663,254 confirmed corona infections since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of deaths related to the virus rose to 16,104.

The proportion of vaccinated people in the country is now increasing only slightly. According to the information, 6,861,111 people or 61.8 percent of the total population are boosted, i.e. have received a booster vaccination in addition to the basic immunization.
