Emmendingen (dpa / lsw) - The background to an alleged arson and swastika graffiti in a bakery in Emmendingen is still unclear. "We are investigating in all directions," said a police spokesman on Thursday. Because traces point to arson and swastikas were smeared on the wall, the state security is investigating. An investigative team is looking for possible witnesses.
"Due to the symbolism found, xenophobia or anti-Semitism cannot of course be ruled out as a motive," said the spokesman. For reasons of investigation tactics, however, no information is currently being given on the origin of the baker. On the night of June 23, the man noticed that the window was broken and smoke was coming out of the store. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly, nobody was injured. The damage is estimated at around 100,000 euros.
