Alpirsbach (dpa / lsw) - In a fire in a facility for mentally ill people in Alpirsbach (Freudenstadt district), four residents suffered mild smoke poisoning. According to the police on Thursday, the building was made uninhabitable by the fire. 15 residents were housed elsewhere. The cause of the fire was initially unknown. "A technical defect is currently being considered as well as negligent or intentional action," it said in a statement.
According to initial investigations, the fire broke out late Wednesday evening in the basement near a kitchen. The damage is estimated at around 450,000 euros. The fire brigade was on site with 13 vehicles, the rescue service with more than 50 helpers. The mayor of the municipality of Alpirsbach and the regulatory office got an idea of what was happening.
