Baden-Württemberg: Go Ahead advises against taking bicycles on weekends

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - The private rail operator Go Ahead advises customers in Baden-Württemberg not to take bicycles or bulky luggage on the train on weekends and public holidays. The reason given by a spokeswoman on Friday in Stuttgart was the expected excursion traffic. The spokeswoman also pointed out that in general no bicycles could be taken on the buses of the rail replacement service.

Last Whitsun weekend there was a large rush to the regional trains in the south-west, and some bicycles could not be taken along. Go Ahead reported that it was not always possible to take passengers on its own route network. Last weekend was also the first stress test for the 9-euro ticket, with which passengers can use local transport nationwide for a month. Tickets are sold for June, July and August.
