Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Based on the science fiction saga "Star Wars", AfD parliamentary group leader Bernd Gögel described Russia as the "dark side of power" - and at the same time advocated talks between the West and President Vladimir Putin. "Our rulers don't want to have anything to do with the dark side of power," Gögel told the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten". "But we won't solve this terrible crisis if we don't hear what Russia says and wants."
The West is prolonging the war by supplying arms to Ukraine and is currently doing everything possible to postpone the starting point for negotiations, criticized Gögel. "The more tanks and howitzers we deliver, the harder and bloodier the conflict becomes." Militarily, however, Ukraine is the second strongest country in Europe. "This is not a miniature state that cannot defend itself."
