Baden-Württemberg: Green youth takes to the streets against the state government

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - It happens again and again that the Green Youth criticizes the prime minister of their own party for his often conservative politics. The fact that the youth organization took to the streets against the upper Realalo Winfried Kretschmann has a certain rarity. On Sunday, the Green Youth wants to take to the streets in front of the detention center in Pforzheim together with other groups against the state government's asylum policy.

This is not only directed against the CDU, but also against the Greens in the government, Co-Chairwoman Sarah Heim made clear in the “Pforzheimer Zeitung” (Friday). The implementation of the coalition agreement in the area of asylum policy has so far been much too slow. "We criticize that the state government does not use the leeway it has to prevent the deportation of well-integrated people," Heim told the newspaper. "People are still being deported who have been in Germany for years, work here and also have their family and friends there. Last year alone there were over 1,300. We don't want to accept that."

Already at the Green state party conference last weekend in Donaueschingen, the Green Youth had caused a lot of trouble, calling the state government's asylum policy catastrophic in view of the deportation practice. Kretschmann was angry afterwards, spoke of a "frontal attack" and called the criticism "absurd".
