Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - According to a survey, around every second Baden-Württemberger would like the German national team to boycott the World Cup in Qatar. According to the so-called Baden-Württemberg Report commissioned by an association of private radio stations in the state (Privat.Radio), only around 20 percent of the people in the south-west want to watch the games.
Around one in three (32 percent) has not yet made a decision on this question - almost half (46 percent) reject the TV broadcast of the games. In general, only eight percent of those surveyed stated that they were looking forward to the World Cup in Qatar.
As a reason for the negative attitude towards the competition in the desert state, 65 percent of those questioned stated that they could not morally reconcile this with themselves. For 43 percent, the lack of interest in football was the main reason and around one in three (32 percent) thinks the timing is wrong: the World Cup is taking place at the wrong time of year.
