Baden-Württemberg: head of the employment agency criticizes cuts for job centers

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - A few weeks before the start of the new citizens' allowance, the head of the regional employment agency, Christian Rauch, criticized budget cuts at the job centers. "We have a great law with a smaller budget and higher costs," Rauch told the daily newspapers "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (from Monday).

In the coming year, the federal agency in Baden-Württemberg will have 14.5 million euros less in the job center budget than in the current year, Rauch told the newspapers. At the same time, the Russia-Ukraine war brought in a fifth more customers.

After the decision on the new citizens' allowance, the Federal Employment Agency had promised punctual payment from January. On January 1st, basic security payments will increase by more than 50 euros. Other essential parts of the reform will come into force on July 1st. According to earlier information, the job centers should be able to take greater care of the unemployed.
