Schriesheim (dpa / lsw) - A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Landstraße 536 near Schriesheim (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis). A 63-year-old driver collided head-on with an oncoming motorcycle when turning left on Sunday, the police said. The 47-year-old then fell to the ground, was seriously injured and had to be taken to a hospital by helicopter. The driver was slightly injured. Both vehicles were totaled.
During the incident, the car caught fire. According to information, an adjacent green strip also caught fire. However, this was quickly extinguished by emergency services. The road was so badly damaged by the fire that it needs to be repaired. According to police, the damage to property cannot yet be precisely quantified. Traffic will now be diverted to the turning lane.
