Baden-Württemberg: Hermann: The car industry could become a partner in climate protection

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg's Transport Minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) sees a possible partner in climate protection in the car industry. "A lot has changed in the past five years. The auto industry has flipped the switch to electric drive," Hermann told the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (Tuesday). If they get serious, the auto industry could become a partner in a broad alliance for climate protection.

Hermann praised Porsche's electric course, for example. "I am very pleased that Porsche is driving the transformation to climate-neutral mobility," said the politician. The state government has promoted a project to produce synthetic fuels to be used for vintage cars and the classic Porsche 911. Studies on this have been funded and partners have been brought together as part of the Re-Fuels project.
