Baden-Württemberg: Hoffenheimer Adamyan moves to 1. FC Köln

Zuzenhausen (dpa/lsw) - The Armenian national soccer player Sargis Adamyan is leaving TSG Hoffenheim and moving to Bundesliga competitor 1. FC Köln. As the Baden-Württemberg football club announced on Tuesday, the contract of the 29-year-old, who was loaned to the Belgian first division club FC Brugge in the second half of last season, would have run until 2023.

"The loan to Brugge went very well for all sides with the championship win, so there were a few interested parties," said Alexander Rosen, director of professional football at TSG. "Sargis will have a four-year contract with 1. FC Köln and will obviously have a different role than with us, so we agreed to the move, also taking into account economic considerations and the player's personal motives."

Adamyan played in the summer of 2017 with TSV Steinbach in the regional league against the U23s of TSG Hoffenheim. After moving to Jahn Regensburg, he made his breakthrough in the 2018/19 season: In the 2nd Bundesliga, the national player scored 15 goals and prepared eleven more goals. Shortly thereafter, TSG signed the offensive player. In the 2-1 draw against Bayern Munich on October 5, 2019, Adamyan became the match winner when he scored both Hoffenheim goals in the Allianz Arena.
