Baden-Württemberg: Homes see no need for support with vaccinations

Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - Anyone who lives in a nursing home and wants a vaccination against the corona virus will also get it - according to the Ministry of Health, this is the result of a new survey in the state. At the end of August, the home supervisory authorities at nursing homes in the country asked about the need for support when vaccinating the residents, as the German Press Agency learned. 1411 institutions gave feedback. Result: Less than one percent of the facilities stated that they had not yet informed residents about vaccination options. According to the ministry, no case had been reported "in which an articulated wish to be vaccinated could not be met despite all efforts". According to their own statements, more than 99 percent of the facilities have no need for support on the subject of vaccination.

"In the evaluation of the query, no facility could be identified in which, despite the express wish of individual residents to be vaccinated, vaccination could not be carried out within a reasonable time via standard care or mobile vaccination teams," wrote Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) in a letter to the facilities. According to his ministry, the allegation that insufficient education or insufficient supplementary vaccination offers on the part of the state are the cause of the low rates of booster vaccinations is completely unfounded.

In the spring, the opposition criticized the fact that the rate of boosters in some institutions in the country was alarmingly low.
