Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Higher incidences, more outbreaks in old people's and nursing homes, more patients with Covid-19 in hospitals again - the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) warns of an infection process with a dynamic upward trend and also in Baden -Württemberg, the situation has worsened compared to last week. According to the State Health Office on Thursday (as of 4:00 p.m.), the number of people suffering from Covid 19 in the intensive care units has risen from 108 to 118 in a weekly comparison. About every fourth patient (32) is artificially ventilated.

The number of people infected in the normal wards increased by 128 to 1,017, and the number of deaths registered in connection with the virus rose to 16,393. That is 49 more than a week ago.

The seven-day incidence of new corona infections in the southwest was 681.8, compared to 565.4 in the previous week. "The current infection dynamics suggest that a summer wave is building up," warns the LGA in its management report.

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation: For some time now, experts have been assuming that there is a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI, mainly because by far not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
