Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann has reprimanded his Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz for starting a debate on tax increases last week. It is clear that such tax debates should not be held in the middle of the crisis, said the Green Prime Minister on Tuesday in Stuttgart. "That only leads to uncertainty and division, which should of course be avoided."
The Green politician Bayaz had advocated introducing "war solos" after the crisis in order to cope with the enormous burdens caused by the Ukraine war and the corona pandemic. In terms of content, however, Kretschmann agreed with his minister. In the long run, one cannot finance all the consequences of the crisis with new debts and thus shift the burden to future generations. Therefore, after the crisis, you have to discuss whether you need a solidarity surcharge again.
