Baden-Württemberg: KSC reacts to the misery of injuries: Ambrosius comes

Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - With the loan of Stephan Ambrosius, second division football club Karlsruher SC has reacted to the plight of injuries in the center of defense. The central defender comes from league competitor Hamburger SV until the end of the season, as the North Badener announced on Tuesday. After a cruciate ligament injury sustained by HSV's homegrown player last April, Ambrosius is due to gather match practice in Karlsruhe.

"It's a win-win situation for both sides. We get a central defender who can help us directly and at the same time Stephan can recommend himself for a nomination for the World Cup," said Oliver Kreuzer, sporting director of KSC, about the Ghanaian.

Only Marcel Franke is currently in full possession of his powers. Daniel Gordon, who played in the 3-2 win over SV Sandhausen last Saturday, played despite a torn muscle fibre. In addition, Daniel O'Shaughnessy, Christoph Kobald, Felix Irorere, Lazar Mirkovic and the newly signed Florian Ballas are not available. Kobald is probably about to make a comeback. With the 23-year-old Ambrosius, coach Christian Eichner now has another alternative.
