Baden-Württemberg: major fire: residents are not yet allowed in apartments

Hildrizhausen (dpa / lsw) - After a major fire in an underground car park of a residential complex with around 600,000 euros in damage in Hildrizhausen, it is still unclear when the apartments can be used again. It is not known to what extent the statics of the building in the Böblingen district were affected by the fire on Sunday, according to a police statement on Monday. 20 of the 32 people reported there had to be evacuated on New Year's Day. Eleven of the residents take advantage of a municipal accommodation offer for the night from Sunday to Monday.

A fire broke out in the underground car park on New Year's Eve. According to the police on Sunday, two unknown objects initially burned before the flames spread to the vehicles. Six cars and a scooter were destroyed. Residents had initially tried to drive some cars out of the garage, but broke off the attempt because of the smoke. Emergency services had to free a person from a vehicle in the underground car park. Three people were taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. According to the police on Monday, the investigation into the cause is still ongoing.
