Bonn (dpa / lsw) - The women of Mannheimer HC have to wait for the first German field hockey championship title in the club's history. Coach Nicklas Benecke's team lost 3-2 to Düsseldorfer HC in a penalty shoot-out on Sunday. Three attempts by the MHC did not end up in goal. No goals were scored in regulation time. In the European competition, however, the runner-up is there.
The MHC men, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the Euro Hockey League. They previously lost the game for third place 4-2 against Harvestehuder THC. Rot-Weiss Köln defended the title with a 1-0 win against Hamburger Polo Club.
