Mundelsheim (dpa / lsw) - An eight-year-old girl and a 66-year-old man were injured in an accident on Autobahn 81 near Mundelsheim (Ludwigsburg district). The 50-year-old driver of the car left the road on Thursday evening "probably due to microsleep", the police said. He drove over a green strip. The car was then thrown back onto the roadway and came to a stop at the median barrier.
The 66-year-old passenger was seriously injured and taken to hospital by rescue helicopter. The girl was slightly injured. The 50-year-old and two other passengers remained unharmed.
The autobahn had to be closed in the direction of Heilbronn for around an hour, so that traffic was backed up for around seven kilometers.
