Baden-Württemberg: Missing man rescued on Christmas Eve

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) - It's a nice gift and good news shortly before the festival: After five days in the forest, a missing man was discovered and rescued on Schauinsland south of Freiburg. A forester's dog tracked down the 40-year-old after a large contingent had been looking for the man for days. A spokesman for the Black Forest mountain rescue service said on Monday that he had injured his leg and could no longer walk. The man from Freiburg was brought to a clinic with the winch of the rescue helicopter. "A great success for us so shortly before Christmas," said the mountain rescuer.

And already the third successful assignment by the experts from the Black Forest in the week before Christmas. Among other things, a hiker was rescued in the middle of last week, who had endured in the freezing cold in the dark near Oberried (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). The 47-year-old threatened to fall in the steep forest until she could be rescued by helicopter, according to the police. She had been hiking but lost her bearings by nightfall. Also, her cell phone battery was dead.
