Baden-Württemberg: Monitoring of nursing professions should help to secure skilled workers

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - According to an expert opinion, there is no mass flight of nursing staff from their jobs in Baden-Württemberg. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, this is one of the conclusions reached by the “Monitoring Nurses in Baden-Württemberg 2022”. "I'm very pleased - our nursing staff can still be relied on," said Minister of Social Affairs Manne Lucha (Greens) on Tuesday.

Behind the report is the Freiburg Institute AGP Social Research in association with the German Institute for Applied Nursing Research, the state financed it. Because there are strong regional differences in the labor market in care, regional strategies are to be developed, as announced by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Monitoring should help with this. The report recorded the need and supply of nursing professions in the regions. One thing is certain: the pressure on personnel in the industry is already high. The demographic development will therefore continue to increase it.

"The decisive point is to create and fill new positions," emphasized Irene Gölz from the Verdi trade union in Baden-Württemberg. She saw the report positively. "It is important that this monitoring was done."
