Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The proportion of fathers who receive parental allowance in the southwest is increasing. 72,062 men received parental allowance in Baden-Württemberg last year, according to the State Statistical Office in Stuttgart on Tuesday. Their share has increased by 3.6 percent compared to the previous year. A total of 262,615 mothers and fathers in Baden-Württemberg received parental allowance last year - an increase of 0.4 percent compared to the previous year.

27.4 percent of recipients were men last year. The fathers in Baden-Württemberg were thus above the national average (25.3 percent) 72.6 percent were mothers, compared to 73.4 percent in the previous year. There were differences in the average duration of receipt of parental benefits. Last year, men planned to receive parental allowance for an average of 3.2 months. Women, on the other hand, aimed for an average reference period of 14.8 months.
