The meteorologists are expecting maximum temperatures of 39 degrees in the Tauberfranken region and along the Rhine this Thursday. "It cannot be ruled out that the 40-degree mark will also be reached in certain areas," said an expert from the German Weather Service. Such high values were measured in Bad Mergentheim in 2015 and in Karlsruhe in 2003, for example.
For Stuttgart, the weather forecasters predict a temperature range of 35 to 38 degrees. The warmest day so far this year in the state capital was recorded in June with 36.3 gad. That is still below the record of 38.8 degrees in 2015. On Lake Constance and in Upper Swabia, the weather service expects up to 34 degrees on Thursday.
Relief for the heat-stricken people of Baden-Württemberg is on the horizon for the weekend. A cold front will pull through from the northwest on Friday, bringing gusty winds with it. Thunderstorms are expected regionally, which can also be accompanied by heavy rain of up to 40 liters per square meter, hail and gusts of wind. For Saturday, the German weather service forecasts significantly cooler temperatures of 27 degrees than in the previous days.
