Because the collective bargaining for employees at university hospitals in Baden-Württemberg is not progressing according to the union, they are relying on warning strikes. At several locations, employees want to stop working this Monday.
Ulm (dpa / lsw) - Employees at university clinics in the southwest go on Monday on a warning strike lasting several days. According to the Verdi union, the first work stoppages are taking place in Ulm and Tübingen. Rallies are also planned there.
In the collective bargaining dispute for the approximately 26,000 employees at the university hospitals, Verdi is demanding an improved employer offer before the start of the second round of talks. The current offer represents a hitherto unimaginable devaluation of income at the university hospitals, said negotiator Irene Gölz. Because no serious negotiations are possible on this basis, the union sees itself forced to sharpen the collective bargaining round unusually early.
Further warning strikes are planned for Wednesday in Heidelberg and Thursday and Friday in Freiburg.
The offer from the Employers' Association of the Baden-Württemberg University Hospitals (AGU) provided for a tax-free one-time payment of 2100 euros and an increase in salaries by six percent in two stages from January 2024. Verdi is demanding, among other things, for medical-technical assistants as well as nursing and administrative staff the university clinics 10.5 percent more money, but at least 375 euros more per month; the term should be twelve months.
The negotiations are about employees whose employment is covered by the Uniklinika Baden-Württemberg collective agreement. Doctors or scientific staff fall under other collective agreements.
