Baden-Württemberg: Neidhart takes over as coach at SV Waldhof Mannheim

Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - Christian Neidhart will be the coach of the third division football team SV Waldhof Mannheim from the coming season. The 53-year-old is scheduled to start preparing with his new team on June 15, the club announced on Thursday. Most recently, Neidhart looked after the regional league club Rot-Weiss Essen. He was relieved of his duties there in May. Due to the subsequent rise of the club, the working paper was automatically extended. Only a contract termination enabled Neidhart to switch to SVW. Before that he coached SV Meppen between 2013 and 2020.

"After intensive talks with various candidates over the past few weeks, we have come to the conclusion that we have found the ideal solution for the vacant coaching position in Christian Neidhart," said Waldhof's sporting director Tim Schork. "The conditions are there to take the next steps with the club. We have ambitious goals that we want to tackle with hard work and diligence when we start preparing," said Neidhart. "I am particularly pleased to be able to work again for a traditional club. The support of our fans must be the basis for our mutual success."

The Mannheimers did not extend the expiring contract with coach Patrick Glöckner and ended the season in fifth place.
