Baden-Württemberg: No regular assignments in sight: VfB gives Awoudja

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The former U21 national player Maxime Awoudja is leaving the Bundesliga soccer club VfB Stuttgart and moving to the Netherlands. There the defender Excelsior Rotterdam joins, as the Swabians announced on Wednesday evening. Awoudja has signed a one-year contract with the Eredivisie club, which includes an option for a further season. This season he was used once in the second team of VfB in the Regionalliga Südwest.

"During his time at VfB, Maxime had to struggle with bad luck with injuries and was therefore unable to assert himself as hoped," said sports director Sven Mislintat about the 24-year-old, who was loaned to the Austrian club WSG Tirol last season. "Due to the competitive situation, it would not have been easy for him to work regularly with us in the future either."
