Baden-Württemberg: Paritätischer calls for a quick agreement on citizen income

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Paritätische Gesamtverband has called on the federal and state governments to quickly agree on citizen income. "We expect quick decisions in the interests of those affected," said managing director Ulrich Schneider to the daily newspapers "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" (Tuesday).

"Anyone who doesn't act quickly and consistently now accepts that poverty will continue to rise and the need of the people will increase," Schneider told the newspapers. After all, it is about the constitutionally required safeguarding of the subsistence level.

The citizens' allowance planned by the traffic light coalition was not able to prevail in the decisive vote in the Bundesrat on Monday. At a special session, several countries led or involved by the Union voted against or abstained. The yes votes were not enough to pave the way for the planned entry into force on January 1, 2023.

The parity is a welfare association of independent organizations, institutions and groups that do social work for others or as self-help.
