Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - From the point of view of the Techniker Krankenkasse, clinic portals are a great step towards better communication between doctors and patients. "Patients will be able to answer important questions about anamnesis in the comfort of their own home before an operation - including digital informational talks with the doctors," said TK country manager Nadia Mussa in Stuttgart. This also simplifies the work processes in the hospital.

The "Hospitals Future Program" of the federal and state governments brings the clinics in the south-west around 550 million euros for digitization. Around 20 percent of all applications with an investment volume of around 100 million euros in Baden-Württemberg are aimed at portals. According to the health insurance fund, the digitization of emergency rooms and documentation as well as the expansion of telemedicine and cyber security are also being funded.

According to the health insurance company, more than 100 hospitals in the country want to set up portals where patients can find out more about the clinic. With their help, data and documents could also be exchanged reliably and securely.

However, the cash register warned against digital isolated solutions. "Only if the patients can save documents and data from all medical facilities in electronic patient files will the nationwide development of a digitally networked healthcare system be possible," emphasized Mussa. The state hospital plan should quickly provide hospitals with a uniform framework for digitization.
