Meersburg/Konstanz (dpa/lsw) - A planned peace chain on Lake Constance failed on Sunday. It was to move from Meersburg via the cities of Überlingen, Bodmann and Ludwigshafen to Constance. According to the organizer, many people came together to demonstrate for peace in Ukraine. However, a chain did not work, said co-organizer Gerry Mayr. He did not give exact numbers. A few dozen people gathered in Constance for a peace service.
One of the organizers of the Peace Chain had previously expected at least a four-digit number of participants, with good weather even a five-digit number of people. Regarding the demands that were to be communicated with the campaign, the website said: "No weapons in Ukraine! Radical reduction in energy prices"
