Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The government factions want to strengthen the Swabian Alb tourism location with several measures. According to information from Saturday in Stuttgart, the Greens and the CDU in the state parliament are launching new consulting and marketing plans in order to maintain tourism as a job engine and to expand its economic factor. Tourism is one of the most important economic sectors in Baden-Württemberg with around 380,000 full-time jobs. A total of 688,000 euros are available for Swabian Alb tourism in the 2023/2024 double budget.
The Albsteig was mentioned as an example. It is one of the most popular long-distance hiking trails in Germany. More accommodation options are to be created here. "One of the challenges in making tourism sustainable is to reconcile nature conservation and tourism. This is possible on the Albsteig in the Swabian Alb biosphere region," said Daniela Evers, spokeswoman for tourism for the Greens parliamentary group.
In addition, 600,000 euros will be made available for a tourism competence platform for the years 2023/2024, according to the press release. These plans still need the approval of the plenum when the budget is passed on December 21st.
