Metzingen (dpa / lsw) - After the major fire in Metzingen (Reutlingen district) with two injured and damage in the millions, the police have identified a suspect. Criminal proceedings on suspicion of negligent arson had been initiated against a 17-year-old who was in one of the buildings at the time the fire broke out, police and public prosecutors in Reutlingen announced on Wednesday.
There was still no reliable information about the cause of the fire. According to the investigators, they were able to reconstruct how the fire spread. Accordingly, it first broke out in a garbage container on a company premises and then spread to a wooden crate. As a result, two other company buildings burned down completely, and a residential building was also damaged.
The 17-year-old is said to have worked in the company on whose premises the dumpster was located, said a police spokesman. According to current knowledge, he and a 45-year-old who was also in the company were slightly injured by the fire.
