Baden-Württemberg: Police break up demo against AfD state party conference

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The demonstration against the AfD state party conference originally planned for the weekend in Bad Cannstatt has been broken up by the police. The reason was violations of the demo requirements, the police said on Saturday evening. The demo was organized by the Stuttgart action alliance against the right. The state party conference of the AfD was postponed by two weeks at short notice and moved to the trade fair.

According to information from the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten”, the police complained, among other things, that banners were too long. Shortly before the start of the train with around 250 demonstrators from the station forecourt in the direction of the Kurpark, the police confiscated two banners. According to the police, there were insults and attacks on the emergency services. In response, the officers used pepper spray and briefly arrested one person. The meeting was then dissolved after an earlier final rally on the station forecourt.
