Plochingen (dpa / lsw) - A police officer was thrown at a firecracker in the Esslingen district. The uniformed officer was sitting on the S-Bahn after his shift early Wednesday morning when a group of five young adults made loud remarks in his direction, police said. When the 28-year-old policeman left the train at Plochingen station, the group also got off. According to a police spokeswoman, the alleged perpetrators pursued the man and shouted "Warning, grenade". Immediately afterwards, a firecracker exploded in the immediate vicinity of the officer.

The 28-year-old was unharmed and was able to arrest three perpetrators aged 17, 18 and 25. Two perpetrators fled in an unknown direction. No other fireworks were found on the perpetrators. The police are now asking for witnesses.
