Baden-Württemberg: Probably millions of dollars in damage again after a fire in the disposal company

Pforzheim (dpa / lsw) - After another fire within four weeks at a Pforzheim disposal company, the police estimate the damage at several million euros. According to information from Wednesday, around 40 tons of waste, mainly paper and wood, caught fire. A warehouse burned down. "A statement on the cause of the fire cannot yet be made," the investigators said.

A spokesman for the Alba company did not provide any information on the amount of damage on Tuesday. It takes a while for the insurance company to figure this out. "We are encouraging the investigating authorities to look very closely for the cause of the fire," said the spokesman. "After the second fire, arson can no longer be ruled out." On July 28, another warehouse on the site burned down completely.

A fire break prevented the fire from spreading to a neighboring hall on Tuesday, the spokesman said. Extinguishing water supplies and a nearby hydrant would probably have prevented worse. Nobody got hurt. During the extinguishing work, the police blocked the federal highway 294 and the parallel rail traffic towards Neuenbürg (Enzkreis).
