Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Train travelers in the Stuttgart region must continue to expect considerable restrictions this Sunday due to a defective overhead line. After hours of interruption, some ICE, regional trains and S-Bahn trains were able to return to the state capital's main station on Saturday evening.
However, there were still diversions with stops and train cancellations. A company spokesman expected that this would not change on Sunday. It was not yet possible to say when all trains would be back on schedule.

The reason for the broken overhead line was initially unclear. The railway spokesman was unable to estimate on Saturday evening how long the repairs would take. Since Saturday morning, rail traffic around Stuttgart Central Station has been completely idle for hours.
The train and the S-Bahn Stuttgart tried to keep passengers up to date via the short message service Twitter. The information on the disruption and the affected connections, which are also running again, were also regularly updated on the company website.
Travelers were stranded at the main station itself, some with a lot of luggage in tow. A queue formed at the DB information desk. Only one sentence could be read on the display board, which otherwise provides information about numerous upcoming connections: "Due to an overhead line fault, no train traffic is possible at the moment!"
